Craig's Bahrain Diary
2 November 2007
Things can change incredibly quickly in life. One day you can take a setback, the next day everything can fall into place. But no matter what, it’s important to keep giving it everything.
A perfect example of this was the V8 Supercar round in Bahrain. We didn’t qualify as well as we could have and got caught up in a lap one incident, which put us out of the first race.
At the time, with our main championship rivals collecting a lot of points, it looked as though our championship challenge was all but over. It was a big blow.
But the Triple Eight guys didn’t let that get to them. On Friday night, they worked until late and did an amazing job to get the car back on-track.
Then, on Saturday, it all paid off. We had a fantastic car and were able to get up to fifth from 30th in race two.
In race three, it was even better and we gave the guys a win for their efforts, to end a topsy-turvy weekend.
The final result? Even with the crash, our Saturday results and trouble for our other championship rivals, meant that we moved back up to second in the championship and we’re now just 20 points from the lead.
We certainly didn’t expect that after race one...
Just goes to show, things can change incredibly quickly. You never know when you’re going to be presented with an opportunity, but if you put in hard yards, chances are you’ll be able to make the most of it.
