Winton Raceway Preview
17 May 2007
Hi Everyone,
Well it's off to Winton Raceway this weekend, around 2 hours west of Melbourne. It's an interesting track, very tight and twisty, a very important place to get on top of the car setup and we're pretty confident after Craig took a win here last year.
The weatherman tells us it could rain this weekend, which is neither here nor there considering we're all competing in the same conditions.
Triple Eight is always good at finding a workable wet setup though, so it could prove an advantage.
Looking back at Winton in 2006, the car was on the money but I recall Mark Skaife running into the bumper during one of the races, enough of a hit to take me out of contention for the weekend as I had to make an unplanned pit stop.
To date its been a great start to the season for myself, coming off the podium at New Zealand almost a month ago, and heading into round 4 I'm 4th in the championship.
Last week we spent a long and very productive day out at Queensland Raceway, further improving the cars and I was really pleased with the outcome. The team has really put every effort into preparing my car and I thank them for this!
I had a small mishap while out training on my dirt bike a fortnight ago, thrown over the bars and being unable to train for about 4 days following! Fortunately I've been able to make this up and have spent the last week putting everything into an intense swimming, cycling and running routine to make sure I'm in great shape for the weekend.
For those of you who I don't see at the track, you can catch the action on the Seven telecast across the weekend, which will be shown on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
I hope everyone is well and I look forward to reporting back with some good results after the race.
Thanks,
Jamie
