Indy Preview
16 October 2007
Hi everyone,
What an amazing fortnight! Winning Bathurst for the second year running was incredible, the race was very tough and the conditions were unpredictable. We stayed where we needed to be until the last hour then put everything in to taking the win. Craig did a great job under pressure and the feeling still hasn’t quite sunk in that we have won the ‘Great Race’ again.
On top of the win, the maximum points haul from Bathurst puts me into the championship lead. I’m very focused on what I need to do to build on this, and won’t be changing my driving style at all as this is what has gotten me to where I am at the moment. The team has been working incredibly hard but there is still a long way to go!
We debuted a new chassis, number 12, at Bathurst , and I’m excited to be using this for the rest of the season, including Indy on the Gold Coast this weekend. It has a great strike rate, 1 win from 1 start!
I love the Indy event, it has an atmosphere all of its own. I’ve ticked a number of boxes this year and the next one to complete is a win at home, something I’m striving for this weekend.
In the midst of preparing for Indy I was also able to pick up a new 2008 KTM EXCR during the week and I can’t wait to find some time to get out and ride.
I would also like to thank you for your understanding in regards to the team’s decision to pull back on sponsor appearances to ensure there is minimal distraction in our chase for the title. I know this may affect some of your plans but hopefully the inconvenience will be worthwhile if we are able to take the 2007 V8 Supercar Series title.
Thanks for your continued support and I hope to catch up with you soon.
Cheers,
Jamie Whincup
