Ride of a Lifetime

I won't forget this day in a hurry! I've just been for a few hot laps around Oran Park with Dexion Racing's Tony Evangelou in his V8 Supercar.

I remember before I got in the car trying to act real cool you know. The truth of the matter was that I was absolutely s...g myself excuse the french! Like I say many times when I'm in control I'm ok, but when I'm not, well let's say I'm not my usual confident self.

The car gets so close to the walls man and all day the Dexion crew were geeing me up telling me the wheel fell off at Bathurst and the door flew open at the last round. To be honest I didn't know what to think before I got in the car.

I stood on the pit wall to get a feel for the speed of the car going past and it was just crazy. I was being interviewed by Channel 10's Mark Howard and he asked me how I was feeling. It was the first time for a long time that I was speechless! Australia I had gone quiet!

When I got into the race-suit and put on the helmet I knew things were serious and my time was up. It was now or never so I forced myself into the specially installed passenger seat and the crew fastened me in. Still I was speechless. Hard to believe I know but I had no control over what was about to happen.

The next 5 minutes or so were a blur. The car is brutal under brakes and awesome when Tony accelerates. I remember getting out of the car and thinking this guy can drive. I was so impressed man, Tony's the real deal. He's got a fan in me. I respect these guys now. Wow!
