Staying True to My Word & Working Hard in LA
19 December 2006

I'm training hard man, just making sure I come back better than ever. I'm putting in long hours each day up to 7 hours. It feels like it never ends but I'm staying well and I'm very happy with the way things are going.
Each day starts out about 10am with running on the track up until 1pm. I then go home and have something to eat. After that I get all my therapy treatments, things like laser treatment on all my joints, to make sure I can recover from my training sessions. I then make sure my recovery is complete by ensuring I'm nourished well with my multi-vitamins.
The secret is if you can recover quicker you can train harder the next day. You do the same work but just add more intensity.
In the afternoon we do weights and then finish off with some more running. That's basically it really. Just plain hard work!
What makes it ok is I'm with a really strong group so we sort of feed off each other you know. We all just want to make sure we all run well so it's the strongest group ever.
I'll be spending Christmas here in LA which is really tough being away from family. I hate it but all I know is that it is making me tougher and it's all part of the plan I need to follow to make sure I run well in 2007.
At this stage I'll be back in Australia on February 1 and I don't know yet just where I'll be running other than at the Australian Championships in March.
I've got my goals that I want to achieve come March and I'm pretty confident I can achieve them. I'm setting my goals higher now to make sure I work harder and right now I'm already training better than when I won the 400m at the Commonwealth Games. I'm so far advanced so I just need to stay healthy so that I can show my best in 2007.
I can't wait to get back to Australia and start putting some times down. I know I have a responsibility to perform and stay true to my word.
Until February take care.
