LEED Gold certification is a globally recognized mark of excellence awarded to buildings and projects that meet high standards of sustainability and environmental performance.
Dexion Smart Hub has officially been awarded LEED GOLD status for being a high performing building with efficient energy practices. Rated under the category “Building Operations and Maintenance: Existing Buildings” this certification is a testament to Dexion’s focus into sustainable strategies as a business.
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification evaluates buildings based on several criteria, including energy efficiency, water conservation, waste reduction, sustainable materials, indoor environmental quality, and site impact. LEED is Administered by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), whose mission is to scale actions that advance building decarbonization, enhance community resilience, restore ecosystems, and improve occupant well-being.
Damian Cross, Dexion APAC MD emphasised that it is Dexion’s culture to protect the environment through our actions, “At Dexion, we prioritise environmental stewardship which enables a sustainable future for our families, communities, countries and the planet at large. This involves crafting policies that address the immediate challenges faced in our industry as we address the long-term consequences of our actions.”
“So when it came to the design and build of our new manufacturing facility and new corporate office, we looked at elements to mitigate the impact our building and operations would have on the environment.”
This includes incorporating elements such as a louvered system around the building that facilitates the flow of natural ventilation and light, harvesting rain water, managing stormwater, as well as LED lighting throughout the whole building with sensors which contribute to energy savings. The façade of the corporate office is high performance curtain glass wall that allows natural light into the office. In addition, the installation of solar panels offsets 526 tonnes of carbon footprint of the factory equivalent to over 22,300 trees per annum.
Peter Templeton, President & CEO of USGBC congratulated Dexion for the achievement, stating that “LEED certification identifies Dexion Smart Hub as a showcase example of sustainability and demonstrates your leadership in transforming the building industry.” He thanked the team for their commitment to a common goal of building a healthy, sustainable future.
Dexion has successfully meet all the requirements and earned the necessary points which has been verified for LEED GOLD. This is one of the higher tiers of certification, indicating that the building has met rigorous sustainability benchmarks and performed exceptionally well across various categories. Achieving LEED Gold certification demonstrates a strong commitment to reducing the building’s environmental footprint, enhancing operational efficiency, and promoting a healthier, more sustainable work environment.
With LEED certification, our customers can rest assure that our products and services comply to best manufacturing and building practices, backed by an entire industry of committed organizations and individuals paving the way for market transformation.
